Near Ajmer, about 3 hours from Jaipur, is best known for its Camel Fair which happens late October/early November. The camel fair is amazing - hundreds of thousands of camels and their owners camp in the sand dunes around the town. The light of their fires as the sun sets over the desert creates an atmospheric setting. However, few people realise that Pushkar is also a major centre for the cultivation of roses. In December and January the fields around the town are full of pink roses.

The Blue City, is on the edge of the Great Thar Desert. With sand dunes and desert villages within easy reach. It is best known for the Mehrangarh Fort which contains the maharaja’s palace. In 1943 the maharaja’s family moved to the Umaid Bhawan Palacewhich is certainly a little more comfortable. It is also a luxury hotel and a stunning shoot location. There is no shortage of great accommodation in Jodhpur.
