Neem Tree Productions team was given the responsibility to shoot at almost sub-zero temperatures. An altitude of almost 3900 meters near Rohtang pass with wind blowing at a speed of about 100 mph. We needed to take along with us, some 400 pound bikes; all the way up to the mountains; but challenging the challenges is what we believe in at Neem Tree so we took it up!
The crew left the hotel at 2: 30 am to reach the location. The crew along with the models reached well in advance of the call–time , to set up the location for the first shot, wherein our photographer wanted to shoot the models, in the first rays of the sun. All was going well till the time the crew reached the locations and stepped out of their production vehicles…. little did the crew know that today was the day when their shooting – skills will be tried and tested along with their surviving skills!
Sub zero temperature, wind blowing at a speed that made even the Vanity – Vans shake… tents, chairs, light- equipment everything got blown away by the strong wind blowing at a speed of 100 miles per hour ? It looked like a scene, straight out of an action film sequence… At 4:30 am it was pitch - dark and the weather conditions refused to improve… but Neem Tree team members decided not to give up... The production team immediately started to distribute gloves, caps, jackets to the crew members bought in advance in case somebody needed them; Nobody had expected the weather would turn out like how it did ! Our caterer did a wonderful job by serving hot tea, boiled eggs, paranthas to the hungry and the cold crew and models ! The production team helped him in setting up his make-shift kitchen in the back of his tempo- traveller…Finally after a long wait… the longest wait ever… Sun- God appeared, shining bright, bringing in even brighter smiles on everybody’s fully covered face ! The team finally began shooting at the break of the dawn with the minimalistic clad models, sipping hot tea and not complaining at all… about the extreme weather conditions that they were shooting in... But it was all worth it for the unforgettable clicks that we got in return…As they say, it’s about mind over matter… we managed to move up the ladder of yet another adventurous shooting campaign that will always remain ‘frozen’ in everybody’s memories who has been a part of it any way!
